Device Programmer/Tester
Mechanical & Electrical Interfaces
Mechanical Interfaces
Mechanical interfaces are generally considered to be the
brackets that hold a Tester or test head firmly in place and mating the Tester’s
test socket to the Series 8780/6160 Handler’s contactor. The Tester and the
Series 8780/6160 Handler are mechanically locked together to provide the
ruggedness required in a modern production work area or programming center.
Off-the-shelf Mechanical Interfaces have been developed for the BP Microsystems,
Inc. Model 1200/1400, the Data I/O AUTOSITE, the Systems General Corp.
TURPRO-1/TX, and others. If your favorite programmer is not listed please
contact our factory. Generally, your cost for a special mechanical
interface will be similar to the prices given below. We will require the
use of your tester or programmer for two weeks. All engineering and design
costs will be absorbed by MC Systems, Inc

Electrical Interfaces
The electrical interface may consist of handshake (sometimes
called digital interface) cables, so-called tester mother PCBs, and/or handler
contactor pin scrambler PCBs. Handshake cables are
required to mate and properly route digital signals between the Tester/Programmer and the
Handler. These signals are. (A.) Test Start from Handler to Tester. (B.) Test
Sort (may be 1 of 6) Tester to Handler. (C.) System Ground. The cable may be
made up with as few as 3 wires or as many as 8 wires depending on the sort
capability of the tester or programmer. The standard length is 72 inches. If you
need a special cable, most likely, we will be able to fabricate one for you at
our standard pricing. Please ask for a no obligation quotation for a firm price
and delivery.

The mother board tester interface PCB provides connection
from the Tester test site to the Series 8780 Handler Contactor pin scrambler
PCB. The Handler Contactor pin scrambler PCB mates to the handler contact pins,
usually a PCB edge connector. In many applications, a single PCB can perform the
function of both PCBs. Other applications require more complicated multilayered
PCBs. The literature for the Series 8780 SOIC Handler
and the Series 6160 PLCC Handler show the
available interface PCBs.
If what you need is not available, we would be happy to quote
a custom PCB to meet your requirements. Generally, your cost for a special PCB
interface will be similar to the standard prices. All engineering and design
costs will be absorbed by MC Systems, Inc.
